Capitalizing on more than 30+ years of clinical experience, Dr. Obagi founded ZO® Skin Health, Inc, in 2007, which was created to provide physicians and patients with the world’s most innovative and effective skin health solutions. As medical director of ZO® Skin Health, Inc., Dr. Obagi created products with technologically advanced ingredients and effective formulations for ZO® Skin Health and ZO® Medical. All ZO® Skin Health, Inc. products maintain the results of therapeutic treatments, provide effective daily skin care and protection from the environment, while ZO® Medical products have been optimized to treat a range of skin disorders and chronic conditions. He is a leading expert in treating the most challenging skin conditions and diseases.

Education and training

Dr. Obagi attended and earned his medical degree from Damascus Medical School. Afterward, he completed an internship at Deaconess Hospital in Detroit, MI. During his first residency, Dr. Obagi focused on pathologies at the Williams Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oaks, MI.  He also served as a Naval medical officer, resident in dermatology, and staff dermatologist for the United States Navy in Honolulu, HI, San Diego and Long Beach, CA.

Dr. Obagi is a Diplomate of the American Academy of Dermatology; a member of the American Medical Association; the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery; the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery; the International Society of Dermatology; the Society of Investigative Dermatology and the American Academy of Aesthetic and Restorative Surgery.

Awards and Honors

  • Dr. Obagi was awarded 7 United States patents for devices and methods for treating skin damage.
  • He has trained thousands of physicians on products and treatments for skin rejuvenation and restoration, both at his clinic in Beverly Hills, CA and at seminars and workshops worldwide.
  • He has lectured at the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society of Plastic Surgery, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the European Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery, the FACE Conference, and professional conferences and symposia in 28 different countries.
  • He wrote and updated The Art of Skin Health Restoration and Rejuvenation: The Science of Clinical Practice 2nd Edition, which is a definitive medical textbook on the subject of skin health.

Dr. Obagi developed his signature medical treatment, the ZO® Controlled Depth Peel™, which is used to treat various skin conditions including acne, wrinkles, fine lines, rough texture, pigmentation disorders, and sun damage. It can be used on all skin types and ethnicities for deeper repair, texture improvement, skin tightening and an overall more even skin tone. He also contributes to the development and design then approves every product created by ZO® Skin Health, Inc.

"I have been seeing Joise since , 2020 . I had deep cyst like bumps on my chin, my forehead and the areas around my chin and hyperpigmentation. I felt like a a pepperoni pizza .I was so ashamed of my face. Joise has helped greatly to clear up the congestion and gain my confidence back . I see her every 3-5 weeks for a Hydra facial and girl chat . Additionally, she has put me on a skin regimen to help in-between my facials. My skin has never looked better. I get compliments on my skin all the time. I also get my products from Zo skin and follow  her guidance. She takes her time and truly loves what she does. You leave feeling happy with your services. In addition to her excellent esthetician skills, Joise  is such a joy to talk to. She has such a positive outlook on life.
